I have know Chris Lohwasser for over 20 years. He is an excellent martial artist and a phenomenal promoter. What he is doing is very admirable and really takes a lot of work and energy. Especially bringing such amazing martial artists together to really achieve something special. I am very happy to see the martial arts community come together on the East Coast. I hope to see many others from around the world join as well. Allie Alberigo -L.I. Ninjutsu Centers - www.Lininja.com, www.takingitothenextlevel.com
It is well known that martial arts teaches discipline, self-defense, respect for others, and develops confidence in people who enter the training whatever form it takes. What may not be well known is how that happened, and why it became so popular. Here on Long Island you can find a studio and program for anyone adult, children, seniors...
Almost every where you look will have some sort of martial arts instruction offered to change that Just For Champions will present the first Hall of Fame awards to the pioneers of martial arts here on Long Island. May 2010 will have a venue of seminars, competition, awards dinner and recognition of these ground-breakers who taught, developed, and expanded the athletic capability of so many.
The Who's Who of Long Island Martial Artists will nominate worthy individuals who will receive awards for their contributions and success in sport, discipline, and instruction.
Since the 1960 Asian Teachers arrived here with their new black belts and began the huge growth in American Martial Arts, giving Long Island skilled black belts who would teach in their studios. Fifty years later we are on our own. We want the word to spread..become part of the experience. Terry Maccarone - Kancho
As I sit in my soft relaxing chair, I can not help but feel excited and humbled to be on the board of directors for the "Just for Champions Hall of Fame Event"
The board of directors was established by Shihan Chris Lohwasser in an effort to honor and induct various martial artists and students into a Long Island Hall of Fame for Champions. This event for Long Island is well overdue and will be prestigious in manner due to the one fact that all nominees and inductees are nominated by their peers from the martial arts community. It seems that in many sports and arts, back door politics somehow get involved. The Hall of Fame Board of Directors ensures that all nominees and inductees are honored strictly for contributions they have made and no outside influence shall be considered. For this reason all of our Hall of Fame members should be extremely proud of themselves. As one of the members of the board, I have 38 years experience in martial arts training, but I still feel like a youngster compared to the elite group with whom I am sitting.
There are many emotions which can describe how I feel about this event, but to sum it up I would have to say our Long Island Martial arts and artists have been recognized by peers through out our country and our little Long Island is finally coming back on the map. I am very proud to be part of this event and may I congratulate all our Hall of Fame members.
