Dear Fellow Martial Arts Practitioners,

My name is Chris Lohwasser, owner of the World Karate Academy in Long Island, New York.  I have had the honor of being the promoter of the Just For Champions Martial Arts event for the last fifteen years. However, this year I have decided to make a bigger event then usual. At this years event we are holding a seminar that will give instructors and students on Long Island a chance to participate in teaching and taking seminars as well as being inducted to a Long Island Martial Arts Hall of Fame, honoring the true pioneers of Long Island.

We have decided to put together a Board of Directors for this event.  The true pioneers of the Martial Arts with  35 yrs and more dedicated to the Martial Arts.   Starting the Martial Arts at the age of 10,  I remember all of  these martial artist as I grew up in the Martial Arts as my peers.  Over 30 years later, I am honored to be able to do this event which will honor them for all the hard work and dedication they have done for the Martial Arts of Long Island. I have had the greatest opportunities to travel all over the world, representing Long Island Martial Arts.

I would like to thank to some of my Board of Directors that I chose based on their connection to my development as a Martial Artist to this very day.  Hanshi Adolfo Ennever, as he has always allowed me to compete on the A.F.M.A team all over the world, Representing Long Island Martial Arts.  And to  Soke Thomas Gettling who make it possible to teach all over the World and across the states, representing Long Island Martial Arts.  Soke Mike Depeasqual, Jr., as he has given me the opportunity to teach and demonstrate Long Island Martial Arts at his events.  Kyoshi Joyce Santamaria for all the years of support, especially when I used to compete at the Empire States Karate Championships,  and continues to be supportive to this very day.  Master Alan Goldberg for recognizing what I have done for Long Island as a dedicated Martial Arts Promoter.  Hanshi Jerry Mercado for taking me in as a student and surrounding me with top notch martial art instructors of this caliber.  O’Sensei Ronald Duncan for being a great inspiration to my martial arts development, and allowing me to expand my knowlege in the martial arts from him.  Grandmaster Nick Adler and Hanshi Terry Maccarone for being Long Island Marital Arts Pioneers, and showing me the way to lead as a Trournament Promoter.  Hanshi John Oshlager and O’Sensei Joe Puleio for being the greatest friends you can have in the Martial Arts, and Grandmaster Luis Ferrer for showing me that no matter how long you can be doing the Martial Arts, there is always more that you can learn.  With all of your help, I know that this event will be a great success .  For more information on our Board of Directors click here.
